Unique, old stock specimen of fully natural and complete “ruby” spinel from An Phu Luc Yen in Vietnam. Known as a Luc Yen spinel, this crystal was part of a late 1980s find in the Lo Gam zone. Vietnamese spinel is known for its high quality and rarity. This raw gemstone is of the isometric crystal system has a great diamond octahedral form. The deep cherry red color is from trace chromium mineral inclusions. Double terminated and crystalized on all sides, the crystal shows natural etchings and areas of fiery red orange gemmy translucency. The specimen makes a perfect perky box display specimen and measures approximately 1.6 by 1.5 by 1.4cm. Includes the ID / locale info labels from 2 prior collections.
