1935A series 1 Silver Certificate, specifically a Hawaii note. These were issued for use in Hawaii after the Pearl Harbor attack during World War II. Key features include:
HAWAII overprint:
The word Hawaii is printed vertically on the left and right sides of the front and horizontally across the back.
Brown seal and serial numbers:
Unlike regular silver certificates with blue ink, these have brown markings.
Purpose:
These notes were designed to be easily identified and demonetized if Japan had successfully invaded Hawaii.
