They are a series of the French Marquis De Lafayette in a variety of political acts during his illustrious life and involvement with the new United States government during the 1700's. The plates demonstrate the exquisite detail of the D'Arceau-Limoges artisans, are individually numbered and guaranteed to be originals of that company. The colors are done in dark blue, sienna, and beige with moss green in the filagree ring around the picture. Very charming way to depict history in your decor.
